Advanced Classification of Pneumatic Conveying System
Pneumatic Conveying System conveying powder/pellets through the Tube (conveying pipe) by utilizing the flow of the medium gas such as air. There are mainly 3 kinds of Flow Pattern such as Plug Flow, Dune flow and Floating Flow (dilute phase system), when it classifies from the flow pattern of powder/pellets. The specification of system constitution and constitution equipment shall be changed by Flow Pattern. Accordingly, the design of Pneumatic Conveying System starts from the selection of Flow Pattern.
Plug Flow

The Plug Flow conveying is like that powder/pellets moves while forming the group like plug (slug), without taking a floating and be one of a dense phase conveying system. In the system, there is little air consumption and very good conveying efficiency, also it can convey almost without piping abrasion and crushing of conveying material. Also, there is no occurrence of streamer in case of resin pellet conveying.
Dune Flow
 
The Dune Flow conveying is like that powder/pellets moves while making slug movement with group style form like a sand dune in the bottom of conveying pipe, this is one of a Dense Phase Conveying System. In case of coarse (large) powder and pellets, the formation principle is almost similar with Plug Flow. But the difference between Plug Flow is that there are no close particle groups or very few in conveying pipe. Dune Flow conveying is very suitable method for especially small powder because easy to include air and be able to use the principle of the fluidization by a flushing phenomenon. The actual conveying system will be designed in the same gas velocity area, without distinguishing coarse (large) powder and small powder.

The Floating Flow conveying, the gas velocity inside conveying pipe is fast and powder/pellets move taking a flight, this is one of Dilute phase Conveying System. In the type of Floating Flow, there are two kings of flows such as Layer Flow and Suspension(Dispersion)Flow. Layer Flow is comparatively low (Middle) gas velocity and powder/pellets focuses on bottom of conveying pipe(Refer below Note). Suspention Flow is comparatively high gas velocity and powder/pellets is conveyed with dispersed. There are few restriction conditions to the system and also it can be easily designed and be used widely from old times.

[Note] High Pressure Dilute Phase / Middle Velocity Conveying System
  In case of high pressure conveying system adopted Floating Flow (Dilute Phase), mixing ratio becomes higher in comparison with normal Low Pressure Dilute System. Also gas velocity can be lower than normal Dilute System, it can be called as [Middle Velocity Conveying System].
  The SANKO Middle Velocity Conveying System is having good advantage to avoid some problems like drop of conveying material quality by too fast velocity, conveying pipe abrasion, occurrence of streamer, powder remaining and line blocking at the conveying feeder section by reason of shortage of gas velocity and also pressure fluctuation. SANKO can design the Conveying System with good stability, low plant cost and low running cost by this method.
